Ryan Shenvi
Ryan Shenvi was born in Wilmington, Delaware and earned his BS with honors and distinction in chemistry as a Schreyer’s Scholar at Penn State University, where he conducted research with John Desjarlais and Raymond Funk. Ryan earned his Ph.D. in 2008 from The Scripps Research Institute as an NDSEG Fellow under the supervision of Phil S. Baran, and undertook postdoctoral studies as a Ruth L. Kirschstein NIH Postdoctoral Fellow with E. J. Corey at Harvard University. Ryan began his independent career at Scripps in 2010 and was tenured in 2014. From 2015–2020, he was the primary caretaker of four children while his wife completed medical residency. His laboratory works at the interface of complex molecule synthesis, catalysis and structural biology. He serves as Advisory Editor on the Angewandte Chemie Scientific Advisory Committee and as Executive Editor at the Encyclopedia of Reagents for Organic Synthesis.

With five years experience at Scripps Research, Rebecca excels as the administrative assistant supporting Ryan Shenvi and serving as the main contact for lab needs. Known for her meticulousness and proactive problem-solving, she ensures smooth operations and enhances team productivity. Outside work, Rebecca enjoys reading and playing pickleball. Her dedication and organizational skills make her a valued member of the Scripps Research community.
